The Donate Your Hair! (Daj Włos!) initiative at Atrium Promenada

Atrium Promenada shopping centre in Warsaw is encouraging everyone to support women on chemotherapy. You can support the initiative by donating some of your own hair which will be used to make wigs for oncology patients. Come to Atrium Promenada and join the initiative on 22-23 October and get a professional hair cut for free! This one small gesture will mean so much to those in need. Plaits are cut as part of the Daj Włos! initiative by the Rak’n’Roll Foundation.

As part of the event at Atrium Promenada, a special hairdressing zone has been organised where you can have a haircut and contribute to this great cause. Hairdressers from K&L HAIR DESIGN GROUP will be the ones cutting hair at the event. It is a condition of participation in the initiative that participants have hair which meets wig-making criteria. Participants’ hair must not be bleached and it must permit a minimum length of 25 cm to be cut. Younger donors who are under 18 years of age may participate under the supervision of an adult. Each participant will have a photo taken before and after their metamorphosis. Photos printed on the spot will be posted on a special commemorative wall.

The idea for the Daj Włos! initiative was conceived by the Rak’n’Roll Foundation which has been changing cancer-related thinking patterns for 12 years and is working to improve the quality of life of people affected by the disease. The Rak’n’Roll idea helps women who are struggling with cancer start fighting for their femininity during the illness and to more mindfully undergo treatment. Daj Włos! is one of the initiatives that supports women undergoing chemotherapy on their way to health. It allows women who have lost their hair as a result of oncological treatment to receive wigs free of charge.

Anyone who chooses to “donate their hair” in the hairdressing zone at Atrium Promenada will be giving someone a priceless chance to improve her sense of well-being and self-esteem, and to regain the faith and strength needed to get through her difficult time with the disease. We believe that this beautiful gesture from the residents of Warsaw will contribute so much to those in need, who rely on their support, especially as just a few patients can afford a rather expensive wig.” – said Tomasz Hofman, Director of Atrium Promenada.

All those who are interested in getting involved in the Daj Włos! initiative are cordially invited to visit Atrium Promenada on 22-23 October 2021, from 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. The free hairdresser’s zone will be right there on the ground floor near the entrance from Ostrobramska street.
